Best macro lens: Sony FE 50mm F2.8 Macro 135mm is the weakest especially for the corners, For the price I would have expected a better build quality (all plastic), Aperture si quite small : F5 as of 50mm, F5.6 as of 70mm, The lens is quite compact (88mm) and light (326gr), The minimum focusing distance of 45cm is handy and allow for some “macro” shot, The distorsion is huge below 35mm, fortunately it is completely corrected in the body for jpg and video or in Lightroom (for raws), Lens fall off , distorsion and CA low or that can be corrected automatically, Sharpness is very good to excellent including in the corners , much better than the Sony pancake at a fraction of the cost (, sharpness is excellent and very consistent centre to corners, very Good bokeh and background blur effects, distorsion is visible especially in video, CA are visible wide open as well as significant lens fall off, Fast aperture of F1.2 perfectly usable with good sharpness, Exceptional sharpness as of F2.8 and good at f1.2, its a complete transformation witch much higher quality, Very good (F1.4) to excellent sharpness (F2), Excellent Bokeh and beautiful soft background blur, Beautiful transition between in focus area and background blur (quite soft and poetic), Excellent sharpness, including at F1.2 (very good), No distorsion, good resistance to flare and very low CA, is really superb and if you like manual focus lens, don’t hesitate 1 second, OSS : optical stabilisation is really welcome for video or in photography when you have a A6000 or A6300, Sharpness : This lens was introduced in 2011 when sensor were 16Mpix and was a very good performer at that time. It is the counterpart of the excellent Sony 100-400 mm on full frame but for 2.5 time less. You best possible option would be the FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS Lens, and it is far from cheap. G Badge – Some Sony lenses have the G badge, and this just means a higher standard of build quality and optical quality was used per the manufacture (Sony) These lenses tend to be more expensive! Really looking for a zoom which can do low light crowds in pre-dawn through to bright fast moving sports. The lenses are not disposable, and the re-sale value is very high!

Sometimes it looks really cool though I think . I decided to write this article to help those lost in the mountain of possible lens options. Standard Prime: Rokinon/Samyang 35mm f/1.2, Excellent list Steve!!

I can tell you from many years of personal and professional experience, the cost does usually indicate the quality. Many other criteria needs also to be considered before choosing a lens : AF accuracy and speed, Bokeh, background blur, color rendition , CA , resistance to flare, distorsion ….

Aperture = Size of the lens diaphragm when set to a given aperture.

Jay, Hello, do you allow guest posting on sonyalphalab.com ? Les résultats sont superbes avec un effet équivalent à un 85mm F1.4 en plein format.

I’ve already forwarded it to several fellow A6000 owners. You will get a sharp shot every once and while, but nothing like a native mounted lens.

Ce Laowa 9mm F2.8 Zero D est donc fait de compromis : un prix élevé pour un APS-C (620 euros) mais un piqué excellent (meilleur que le Sony 10-18mm) et pas de distorsion. Build Quality – The ruggedness of the lens itself. (F4), Parfocale, faible variation de l’angle de vue, Beaucoup de contrôles directement accessible sur l’objectif, Le piqué au centre est toujours excellent et les coins sont bon très bons.
