Terranigma was great as well.

Great list and I love seeing everyone's top SNES games. Super great game. rock-n-roll racing was real fun. Nice list.

Earthbound is brilliant and it does desverve a spot on this list.

Believe it or not, Touhou wasn’t the first shoot-’em-up franchise to put you in control of a youkai-hunting Japanese shrine maiden. Good job!

i liked nintendo and genesis... so does that make me a poor fag??!! Video games, movies, TV shows, cartoons, anime, toys, comics and so much more. Great list.

Oh yea. I have never played Chrono Trigger but now that Im reading this and all the comments I am making a trip to Ebay tonight. Still, it wouldn’t have been the same without its beautiful 2.5D racer sprites, interesting tracks like the infamous Rainbow Road, and the wonderful Battle mode, which has made an appearance in every sequel since. I think that chrono trigger trumps all and it is not just the best SNES game, But the best game of all time. How about even Tecmo Superbowl 3? Thats an awesome article and an awesome list. Kudos. Great short histories and personal relfections of the gameplay. Often completely forgotten by younger generations who think it all began on the N64, Super Mario Kart was Nintendo’s first foray into mascot-racing. Otherwise great list!
And after a few rounds with the crew, you’ll notice why. lol!! This dual-stick shooter is one of the genre’s grandparents, pitting you and a friend against hordes of enemies, competing for a high-score and trying to stay alive long enough to enjoy your hard-earned kitchen appliances. Welcome to Retro-Sanctuary's Top 100 Best SNES games. I always discover a new joke or obscure reference. I've never seen or heard of that game.

This is a great article I must admit being a vetrion of the SNES but let me ask you one question retromaniac.WHY LEAVE STARFOX OUT OF THIS LIST? I’d recommend the original MK as well. To reminisce about simpler times and offer guidance to those thinking of dusting off their old SNES to show the younger generations what they’re missing out on, I’ve put together a list of my favorite multiplayer games out there which I’m sure SNES fanatics will appreciate. that was a great list but the music to supermario scared me. Awesome list! The Animality?

And I absolutely agree the SNES is the best system ever. If you don’t believe me you clearly haven’t played Secret of Mana, an action RPG developed by Square that not only plays like a charm, but also manages to keep the same depth as any other RPG while also supporting up to three players simultaneously (if you own a MultiTap).

Glad to see RocknRoll Racing and super punch out make a list. It also stands as one of the more violent and gritty snes games out there. As I’ve said before, I’m not that big a fan of sports games. To this day it has remained a cornerstone of gaming for well over two decades, living on through emulation (despite Nintendo’s persistent fight against ROM sites) and most recently Nintendo’s own Virtual Console releases and SNES Mini plug-n-play console.

But I wish you would have put Starfox on there, that was a truly challenging and visually exciting game. But you don’t need the nostalgia value to enjoy these masterpieces nowadays. The developers’ efforts to make the game more balanced in the Turbo release was met by gamers with much praise, and it’s one of the titles that made button-mashing into a sort of sport. maybe just a pet peave of mine but putting sequals of games in the same list irks me. Dude. A license game which really manages to convey the movie source material, Batman Returns is a very well crafted beat-em-up that has a nice amount of variety and manages to give you a real feeling of strength, when the enemies slam into the ground you can almost feel the pain yourself. Regarding Donkey Kong Country, 'Cranky' Kong was the real Donkey Kong who'd battled against Mario in 1981. where the hell is earthbound? Excellent games with good descriptions!

My Top 25 SNES Games I had such a good time listing off my favorite NES games, that I just couldn't resist making a list of my top games for my favorite system - the Super Nintendo.

But the rest of the list is good, and I also feel that Chrono Trigger was the best game to ever come out on the SNES. I personally have Rock n' Roll Racing in my top-15. Equinox is the sequel to the NES classic Solstice, game play is a mixture of puzzle solving and adventuring. The sprites are pretty good, albeit not overly-detailed, and both the animations and sound effects are ideal for you to feel the weight of your robot.
